Our wood raw materials ensure good drainage and thus protect against waterlogging. They ensure improved root growth and rapid drying of the substrates on the surface.
The Brill substrate fibre is a wood fibre obtained in a mechanical-thermal process from chips of domestic coniferous woods. It is a quality-assured substrate material with approval for organic cultivation. Substrate fibres improve the air capacity and drainage ability in the substrate. They are used as peat substitutes in Brill potting substrates and Brill organic substrates and serve as the basis for the raw material LignoTer® processed at Brill (substrate fibre compost).
LignoDrain® has a stabilizing effect on the structure of the substrate, increases the drainage capacity, improves the air capacity and ensures healthy root growth. It is made from untreated domestic softwood without bark, is structurally similar to wood chips and has a uniform grain with a low proportion of fine particles. The smooth surface without fraying causes a low, calculable N-fixation. This makes LignoDrain® a high-quality renewable aggregate.
LignoTer® is a substrate fibre compost developed by Brill, which consists of substrate fibres from domestic softwoods and substrate compost (both RAL-quality assured). We have many years of positive experience with both original raw materials. LignoTer® is a natural, rapidly renewable wood material with homogeneous, consistent quality. It promotes water dynamics and rewetting in the pot, contributes to good drainage and causes rapid drying of the substrate surface. In addition, it stimulates biological activity in the substrate in a natural way.
