Proven potting substrates and customised solutions for your individual needs
Our potting substrates are adapted to the cultivation requirements of various ornamentals in terms of texture, fertilisation and pH value as well as pot size and type of cultivation, especially under glass. We offer universal, peat-based potting substrates with and without clay for a higher water retention.
PRO potting substrates have a high percentage of white peat and a portion of fractioned sod peat. These substrates are characterised by a high air capacity for healthy root growth.
Field crops in tree nurseries and shrubs require structurally stable and drainable substrates with a rapidly drying surface and sufficient water capacity.
By using coarse fractions of sod white peat, LignoDrain®, CocoDrain®, perlite or expanding clay in container substrates, we achieve a stable high air capacity and structural stability for long cultivation periods.
Modifications are possible, such as the use of slow-release fertiliser.
Practice-proven substrates for the successful cultivation of aromatic and medicinal herbs, vegetables, compact aromatic plants or shrubs. Rapid water absorption, a regulated air balance and a stable substrate culture in the pot are achieved with Brill CocoSol®, LignoDrain® or LignoTer®. These ensure a high air capacity and strong root growth with a simultaneously fast drying pot surface. LignoTer®, with RAL-certified substrate compost, vitalises soil life.
Society and politics increasingly demand the use of peat-reduced substrates for horticulture. For us at Brill, peat reduction is a service issue and crop safety a priority. Peat-reduced substrates require an adapted cultivation and water supply. This is what we have gained from more than 20 years of experience with different peat substitutes for a wide range of crops. Our special substrates offer efficient air and water capacity, a particular pH value or specific fertilisation due to their adapted textures for the specific plant cultures and cultivation methods, such as callunas, ericas, poinsettias, primroses or cyclamen.
