The Gebr. Brill Substrate GmbH & Co. KG rank among the leading German producers of substrates for the national and international horticulture. |
The company is located in the municipality of Georgsdorf in the County of Bentheim. Here in the northwest of Germany, in the middle of the Bourtanger Peatland you can find one of the most important cultivation areas for black-peat with a size of 800,000 ha.
The company belongs to the oldest peat-processing establishments in Germany. The historical roots of the company can be traced back to the first decades of the 20th century.

Foundation of the
Limited Partnership ''Georgsdorfer Torfwerk Gebr. Brill'' by the brothers
August und Arnold Brill from Neuenhaus. Purpose: Extraction of white-peat
for sales in bulk and in bales, as well as extraction and sales of black-peat
as energy-peat. |

Start of the production and distribution of the
first mixed products on the basis of peat, fertilizer and lime (so-called
mixed peat fertilizers) in bales. |

Start of the industrial
production of professional substrates for the professional horticulture
by the installation of an automatic substrate mixing plant.
